OWNER RON SALISBURY
The story of The Cannery covers nearly 90 years of American history. Cannery Seafood of the Pacific is committed to serving the finest seafood available in Newport Beach. The restaurant boasts extraordinary views with an exceptional atmosphere.
To provide the freshest seafood available to Newport Beach and the surrounding communities.
In 1921 the first commercial fish cannery was built. The cannery was located between 30th street and Lido Park Drive where they canned albacore and mackerel. In 1934 the Western Canners Company was founded to take over the plant, where they canned 400 cases of fish a day. With the development of technology and enlarged facilities, they were canning 5,000 cases a day. In 1966, the Cannery closed, temporarily. Bill Hamilton rebuilt the harbor center as a waterfront restaurant and harbor boat center in 1973. In 1999 Mr. Hamilton sold the property to a developer who had housing plans for the land. Local resident Jack Croul had better plans for the building and purchased it in 2000. Mr. Croul entrusted Ron Salisbury with the creation of The Cannery. Mr. Salisbury’s family has a long history of being a part of the restaurant industry. Today, the new Cannery Seafood of the Pacific continues to serve Newport Beach with the finest seafood available.
The menu features fresh seafood, steaks, chicken and salads. The kitchen uses only wild, line-caught fish, and all of their meat is certified Angus beef. The bring seasonal innovative specialty cocktails to the table, as well as a broad spectrum of liquors, varietals and sakes.
